"Kjos Fast» Difficulties cost airlines NOK 30,000 per hour – Aftenposten

– No doubt there are large amounts are involved. So it is gratifying that we can see a clearing in the tunnel when it comes to operating stability of aircraft.

It says communications director Anne-Sissel Skånvik in Norwegian Aftenposten.

The aircraft she talks about is Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which the company has seven pieces of. It has given Kjos few headaches since the company got it into its fleet in 2013.

Major expenses for the US and Bangkok

Today came the years for the Norwegian discount operator, with an operating loss at 1.05 billion for 2014 as a whole. It is the first time in seven years that English is losing.

And the numbers for the company’s long route operations to Bangkok and the United States is not particularly more cheerful reading:

Overall extra costs, such as delay and hiring leiefly, 265 million. It provides 726,000 kroner per day, and 30,000 kroner every hour of the day.

Consult the beginning of the year

– These additional costs were greatest in early 2014. Later this year has been punk better. Several planes have been out of service and we have had to hire other airlines to operate routes for us. There we release now, today we stand for all long route flights yourself, says Skånvik.

Delay Costs have also focused on costs for accommodation, food and drinks to delayed passengers.

With large aircraft and large passenger volumes, the taximeter fast when a long liner first being delayed.

Kjos warns spending cuts

Kjos are strongly dissatisfied with the large deficit, and believes the situation in Scandinavia is not sustainable on term. Costs must, because he believes the competitive landscape will change over the next three to four years.

He is pleased that the 2015 program better than 2014 ended:

– We go into 2015 with good demand for flights and get the full effect of the low oil price already in the first quarter. Meanwhile, there is no doubt that the costs must be further down to ensure the company’s competitiveness in a very challenging market, says Kjos.
