Nortura think chicken sales will pick up – Fædrelandsvennen

The sale is lower right now, there’s no doubt about that. But it is not long ago it was at its usual level, and it is too early to determine that Norwegians have failed chicken, says CIO Ellen Flo Skagen Nortura to E24.

The company talks about two major setback for Chicken sales lately. The first came after several media reports of bacteria in chicken. That changed quickly when NIPH in December insured that Norwegian chicken was safe to eat.

We saw sales almost overnight popping up at their usual level, and lay in route well into January. It tells me that although sales are sensitive to such mention in the short term, then chicken still a strong position on the dinner table in Norwegian homes.

On New Year sales fell again, and now it’s campaign on fish retail chains that is the explanation.

-We will see what answer key shows the longer term, but we believe the decline in sales is a result of retailers’ ongoing promotions on fish products, and not that Norwegians have gone away from chicken.

Retail and producers newspaper spoke with, estimates that sales have fallen between 15 and 20 percent. (© NTB)
