Yara invest 3.7 billion in new US factory – Aftenposten

Yara and BASF Group has signed an agreement to build ammonia plant at BASF plant in Freeport in the US state of Texas. The plant will use hydrogen as a raw material, which according to the two companies reduce investment, maintenance and CO2 emissions. Access to hydrogen and nitrogen are secured via a long-term agreement with Praxair industrial gas.

Yara stake in ammonia plant will be 68 percent. BASF will own 32 percent of the factory. The annual capacity will be around 750,000 tonnes. The two partners in the project to buy ammonia factory corresponding own stake.

The total investment for the plant is at about 4.5 billion. Yara must also build an ammonia tank on the factory site. Yara’s total investment will amount to 3.7 billion. (NTB)
