Nearly 400 employees must go in Reinertsen – Offshore.no

Between 350 and 400 employees which are currently laid off at Reinertsen, must expect to be dismissed in June.

The heavy message was conveyed town meetings throughout the group today. Most of those affected are engineers working in Bergen and Trondheim.

– We had hoped that the activity should pick up, so we could take the employees back to work. But as the situation has evolved, we have today had to inform you that we will most likely have to go to layoffs, says Geir Suul, director of business development at Reinertsen Group to pursuits.

He can not say how the cuts are distributed between Bergen and Trondheim.

– We have started discussions with the unions now, he said.

– What is the mood among employees?

– It is difficult for me to say, but I do not think this came as no great surprise. We had hoped for more new missions, but most have not seen that it has not happened.

Difficult market
He describes the market so far this year as difficult. It is particularly in modification and maintenance that the orders are overdue.

– The activity was good until last summer, but autumn began to taper off. Statoil signaled the declining 30 percent, but for our part the decline has been much greater than that. Then we unfortunately have to adapt their workforce to the new situation.

– Will there be new cuts ahead?

– I can not say anything about. I hope that we now have an organization that is adapted activity levels it gets ahead.
