Elisabeth Aspaker opened new gas terminal in Germany – iTromsø

Europe Minister Elisabeth Aspaker had the honor of opening the terminal on behalf of the Norwegian government.

– The opening of the new terminal lays the foundation for new decades of reliable gas supplies to Germany from the Norwegian shelf. For government is long-term is very important, says Aspaker.

She believes Norwegian gas contributes to safety and regularity of the energy supply in Germany.

The construction of the new gas terminal started in June 2013 and it was completed on March 1 this year, said Gassco.

For the construction it has gone with 2,000 tons of steel, 1,700 meters of large pipes, 250,000 with cables for instruments, 330,000 meters of electric cables and 10,000 tons of concrete. In addition, 1.710 concrete piles lowered to stabilize the ground. (© NTB)
