Unemployment rose by 500 people during March, according to seasonally adjusted figures from NAV.
The sum of unemployed and job seekers on measures rose by 300 in the same period.
– For Now this year, unemployment has increased by 2,300 people. The increase is in line with what we were expecting and is greatest in counties that have many employees in oil related activities, says Labor and Welfare Director Joakim Lystad in a statement.
Unemployment rose the most in engineering and ICT subjects and construction, while the decline was greatest in education.
On county basis had Rogaland and Hordaland the largest increase in unemployment in March which is connected with precisely the increasing unemployment rate in oil-related activities.
Nine counties had a decrease in unemployment in March, and the decline was greatest in Nordland and Finnmark.
81,000 unemployed
At end of March, the unemployment rate of 3.0 percent of the labor force, compared with 2.9 percent in the same period last year.
This is in line with consensus.
At the end of March 81,000 persons were registered as unemployed with NAV. There are 5,400 more than the same time last year.
The sum of unemployed and job seekers on measures was at 95,100, 300 fewer than the same time last year. Gross unemployment is thus 3.5 percent, 0.1 percentage points lower than last year.
Engineers increases most
Compared with March last year, unemployment has risen most in engineering and ICT subjects (54 percent). 5,100 people are now unemployed, representing an unemployment rate of 2.0 percent for this occupational group.
Although the increase in the number of unemployed in this group has been high, emphasizes NAV that unemployment is still low.
After engineering and ICT subjects had brokers and consultants the biggest rise in unemployment (24 percent), ahead of industrial workers (15 percent).
Unemployment is highest in construction by 6.0 percent, and tourism and transport by 4.8 percent. The lowest unemployment is found in teaching by 0.8 percent and academic careers by 0.9 percent.
