Former CEO Thorleif Enger’s along with the former presidents Kendrick Wallace, Daniel Clauw and Tor Holba accused of having paid bribes of $ 1.5 million son of Libyan former acting oil minister.
Payment was made in connection with the establishment of a fertilizer plant in the country in partnership with the national oil company NOC. Payment was hidden by a business partner paid on behalf of Yara, which paid back “loan” by paying excessive prices for several boatloads of ammonia.
All but Holba is also accused of having paid a million dollars in bribes to the son of a high-ranking official in India’s fertilizer ministry.
All the defendants deny guilt.
Yara acknowledged last culpability and adopted a corporate fine and retractions on nearly 300 million for the conditions .
The case started on 5 January and procedures continues until Easter.
