Hayes had to appear in court Monday, accused of having manipulated exchange rates from late 2007 to early 2013 for personal advantage or gain. Several other agents were involved, just 35 years old Hayes is considered to have been the leader. He previously worked for the US bank Citi Group and the Swiss bank UBS.
A unanimous jury concluded that Hayes was guilty.
The trial, which began in London in late May, marked a new stage in the seven-year-long global investigation against several bank employees who are suspected of pure trickery.
