Former Shell CEO in Statoil board – Offshore.no

Statoil’s nomination committee recommends that the company’s corporate assembly appoints Dutchman Jeroen van der Veer as a new member of Statoil’s board.

Jeroen van der Veer was CEO of oil and gas company Shell from 2004 until he retired in 2009. he then continued as a board member of Shell until 2013. Van der Veer joined Shell in 1971 and has experience in all areas of business, according to a press release from the group.

the new Statoil board member is the chair of ING Bank NV and Royal Philips Electronics. He is a director of Boskalis Westminster Groep NV.

The board of Statoil ASA consists of ten directors, seven of whom are elected by shareholders and three are elected by the employees. The Board may in these bylaws have eleven members, and it is thus able to choose a new board member for supplying board additional expertise.

The choice to Statoil’s board takes place in the company’s corporate assembly Thursday this week.
