In 2013 advertised Expert that they had fired 1,432 employees to lower prices, now they will no longer have a collective agreement. It can safely be stated that they are not exactly experts on human resources, writes Østfold Trade and office managers Åsmund Utgård.
Leserbrev Electrical chain Expert has withdrawn from the employers’ organization active and refuses to continue the collective wage agreement they have had until now . From 1 April is no longer collective agreements in Experts warehouses – which immediately gives large and sometimes dramatic consequences for the employees.
When the collective agreement disappears forfeits including the right to early retirement pension (AFP). This means that further not have the ability to go off when you reach 62, but must continue to work maybe until you’re 70! Worse is this for those who have fully earned pension and only a very few years left before they could be passed by. These people now have no further opportunity to become pensioners at the time they had planned, but have to work for many years while they miss the huge sums in the pension money – perhaps as much as one million. Where is clear that this is perceived as very unfair when you have a long career behind you and be happy in the same business!
Another thing that disappears with the collective agreement is the right of the fifth week. The right to five weeks vacation was otherwise negotiated wage 2000/2001, but when now the employees of the Expert says no collective agreement is the only resort the law that determines how much holiday they are entitled to, ie 4 weeks and 1 day! Less vacation produces less holiday pay as percentage of reduced from 12 percent to 10.2. Expert claims that with their new agreement, employees will receive two weeks more free time during a year in terms of shorter work weeks, but considering that the majority of employees work part time is it not likely that they will note that much of this in practice.
Without collective agreement stands Expert free to decide how much they will give employees in wages, we’ve known that no minimum wage in this country. Expert says they will follow the rates in the collective agreement, but dropper addition to work on nights and weekends. They would rather have a bonus scheme to create a performance culture within the company. Sellers of Expert will therefore from now on be more assertive than before and do everything they can sell most of their customers – something they will be addicted to getting paid a salary at the same level as they had with the collective agreement. Lower sales less wages – is that how we want it in our country? It is also worth mentioning that there is no obstacle to signing bonuses next to a collective agreement.
With a collective agreement ensured the employees Codetermination right now, officers have the right to negotiate with the company in important affairs and management duties to go in discussions with the unions before making decisions. The employees of the Expert lose those rights when they no longer have any collective agreement. Employees can no longer negotiate with management on such wages – it is however up to each employee to go into your boss’s office and negotiate their own pay. It goes without saying that all the power then is the boss and you’re going to be a very skilled negotiator if you will manage to calm the land for your own benefit. By moving away from collective agreement ensures the lead Expert in reality to move all power over to itself, the staff no longer has anything they should have said!
Expert says that they have completed a democratic process where employees have been able to vote on whether they want a collective agreement or a bonus agreement. When simultaneously hear about employees who have been pressured by management to “vote correctly” it is reasonable to question how democratic this process has actually been!
Østfold and Commercial Office refuses to sit quietly watching on what happens in the Expert! This is a disgraceful way to treat their employees and something a large company like Expert should have stayed too good! This is union busting at a high level and we can just easily not accept. That now still happening is Østfold Office of Trade and ready to take up the fight. We would also encourage management to Expert to think about it again while it is still possible to avoid an escalation of the conflict! There is no disgrace – as they say!
