Honored for Design Excellence – Adresseavisen

Wednesday afternoon, received both the peculiar brand companies the prestigious design award Award for Design Excellence in Norwegian Design and Architecture (DOGA) in Oslo.

Protex has developed sportswear inspired work for the aquaculture industry, while Metsä Tissue has with help design agencies EGGS Trondheim and Minoko Levanger made dispensers to fit any user.

– Security and available characterizes both the two projects. Both projects have testing and user experience played a key role, which is very positive. Dispenser series of Metsä Tissue shows broad understanding of various users’ needs, and emerging as a successful example of universal design. In Protex ‘case has also collaboration with researchers at SINTEF Technology and Society has been crucial, says Thea Mehl, project manager for the design awards in Norwegian Design and Architecture.



Sports inspired clothing for aquaculture

Work fishing and fish farming have long been heavy and impractical. Protex wanted to do something with this. The result was the collection Ragnarok, which is inspired by light, technical sportswear.

– The collaboration with product designers Tore Christian Storholmen and Ole Petter Næsgaard SINTEF Technology and Society has worked well. We have been through an internal competence in Protex, and it has been both educational and exciting, says Jens Christian Hernes, Chairman of Protex AS in a statement.

The goal has been to develop products that are adapted to future employment in the industry.

– Design was an important part of the project. We saw early on that function and design must harmonize and play each other better if collection to safeguard users’ needs and stand out in the crowd. The clothes should be professional at the same time as it should be tough to go with them, says Hernes.

paper Holders for blind and disabled

How can blind and visually impaired in the easiest possible way use toilets in public buildings? How do they get wiped his hands?

Metsä Tissue In cooperation with EGGS Design and Minoko Design Levanger developed Katrin Inclusive Dispensers, which is a series of dispensers for paper towels.

– The series is developed for the professional market, which means that the products are used by the broadest possible group of users. The approach may consequently be included. Research in collaboration with end users and customers throughout Europe, including the Directorate of Health in Norway, gave insight into the challenges faced by different users encounter when they use our products, says Henrik Runshaug, technology engineer and industrial designer in Metsä Tissue.

The award-winning disp serene has a simple and uncluttered look. Using the dispenser and refill the paper is very easy, and contrast colors black and white are used to make it easier for visually impaired people to use them. Disp Serene also with buttons with Braille telling blind and visually impaired that they have to press a button and where to press.
