Aker will determine how Lundin major discovery can be developed with a floating – Tu.no

Aker Solutions announced today that they have landed an agreement with Lundin Norway for early feasibility studies on the major discoveries the company has made on Lopphøgda in the Barents Sea.

The findings Alta and Gohta created a stir when they were made and with this framework agreement should now draw forward a clearer picture of how a development here can be realized.

Opportunities for development

Aker Solutions first delivery of the framework agreement will be how a FPSO (floating production, storage and offload unit) can be developed.

She emphasizes that this is in a very early phase of development of its fields in Barents Sea and that there are now a handful of contractors who have received study contract at Alta / Gohta development. They are as follows:

Aker Solutions writes in his message that they are very pleased with the agreement Lundin.

Can be three times as large as Goliath

Lundin now working on maturation of the resource base for Alta / Gohta, and has contracted rig Leiv Eiriksson to drill further at Alta 3, which was stopped after the previous rig could drill anymore because of lack of winterization.

According to a presentation the company held in April this year the company expects the Alta / Gohta may contain between 216 and 584 million barrels of oil. This means that the field may be more than three times as large as Goliath, has about 187 million barrels.

after completion of Alta 3, the Leiv Eiriksson drilling additional wells on Lopphøgda including Neiden prospect and Filicudi prospect. Both have claimed Lundin potential of over 200 million barrels of oil equivalent.
