New web portal will tell you everything about our food – Aftenposten

Our elected representatives got a lot to chew on Wednesday. The menu was a decision to create a grocery portal with complete information on all foods content – including how much they cost in each shop.

It was also served a proposal to label processed meats with origin – for now, there has been just pure meat products that must be stamped with where it comes from. It appealed and was adopted. The proposal to curb Opplysningskontoret for meat (matprat.no) their eagerness to get us to eat more meat, was not quite as palatable and was rejected.

On the web portal much should we therefore know everything, even the price of the individual stores. Is it really feasible?

Sure, now it becomes fun and easy for those who want to fly around and act all at cheapest price. This is complicated, but not impossible. Consumer Council, which shall administer Matportalen, has been estimated that an average grocery from before keeps track of around 50,000 price within a year.

And what, hehe, the price of this?

There were arguing a lot about in Parliament. Someone from the Conservatives and the Progress Party believed it would be so expensive for stores to report prices and all, an estimated half a billion dollars a year, that it really will lead to higher prices for us consumers.

Oi it is perhaps the most expensive team, then?

It depends on the eyes of the beholder. Labor meant it cost estimate is entirely grounded, it becomes far cheaper. The technology makes constantly reporting easier. By comparison sells grocery industry total some 150 billion. And the Consumer Council says they should get this up and stand for about seven million, excluding industry costs.

When we get consumers this tool in hand?

Industry Committee in Parliament believe that it will be in place during 2016. Consumer Council says before summer 2017, but perhaps with some simpler versions before that.

And Parliament had more to boil the soup?

The boiled at least at several before it was enacted that now also processed meat, ie everything that is added something, even if it is only salt, labeled with where it comes from. Agriculture and Food Sylvi Listhaug actually meant both stricter labeling requirements and the new Matportalen will be too expensive, that both will eventually mean more expensive food.

A matminister as opposed more labeling of food and more information about foods, is it true?

Yes. Low price may seem more important than labeling and information.

From before it so that clean meat must be labeled with origin. Is not it strange that mix products that may contain horse and wildebeest and everything until now has not had the same labeling requirements?!

Yes, it believed Parliament. And we can assume that the labeling requirement is practiced from about the same time as Matportalen up and running.

The issue of meat advertising, what was it about?

The proposal was that Parliament should decide to amend the so-called revenue law and thus prevent agricultural advertising organization, also called Opplysningskontoert for eggs and meat, in advertising so much for meat. This would be in line with the CMO advisories and UN climate recommendations. The proposal fell in fish.
