The media group NHST losing millions due to that persistent ad drop. In the first quarter got the media group, where Dagens Næringsliv (DN) is the flagship, with a profit before tax of minus 22.3 million. In the same period last year got NHST a profit before tax of 5.1 million.
It is the storm in the advertising markets now affecting NHST with full force. DN and the global publications have an ad fall respectively 22 and 15 percent in the quarter.
– This is the biggest decline since the financial crisis in 2008/2009, says media group in a result message.

DN-turnover totaled 146.5 million kroner in the first quarter, a drop of 18 million or 11 percent compared with the corresponding period last year. DN had an operating loss of 378.000 million in quarter, compared with an operating profit of 13.4 million in the same period last year.
Food Sing Life newspaper ad revenue plunged ie by 22 percent in the first quarter. The downturn affected both the digital advertising revenues and the paper-based advertising revenues, but the decline was greatest for paper revenues. Digital advertising revenues accounted for 30 percent of advertising revenues in the quarter. Put another way: 70 percent comes from a newspaper that is becoming less.
Also subscription revenue fell by three percent in the first quarter. There was a slight decline in the number of subscribers in total, but there is also growth in some subscription types.
NHST CEO Gunnar Bjørkavåg earlier this year launched a so-called productivity program aimed at bringing lasting efficiency gains of five percent. It should be 65 million on net profit.
Norwegian well does it cost and job cuts, but it will still not be a mere cost-cutting program. Mediehuset will also bet more heavily on digital platforms.
