Dnb and Nordea puts down the interest rate – Aftenposten

Nordea puts down interest rates by up to 0.40 percentage points. New best liquid mortgage rate is 2.9 percent.

Friday night follows Dnb after and cuts interest rate corresponding with up to 0.40 percentage points. Best mortgage rate becomes 2.9 percent.

– We choose to reduce interest rates in the new year, because we want borrowers to get benefit of it has been lower money market rate, says the head of banking operations Nordea in Norway, John Saetre in a statement.

– We have promised that DNB will be competitive on price. With us both customers get the market’s best availability and simultaneously high rates on loans. All customers with ordinary mortgages in DNB now get lower interest rates, said Executive Director of the retail market, Trond Bentestuen said.

They therefore follows by Danske Bank, which earlier Friday lowered its mortgage interest rate down to 2.7 percent. The lowest mortgage rates are reserved for members of the trade union Akademikerne.

Nordea and DNB rate cuts not make any specific member requirements.



Record low policy rates

11. Last December, Norges Bank somewhat surprisingly lowered its key rate 0.25 percentage points to a record low 1.25 percent, in an effort to put a little extra speed on the Norwegian economy.

The Consumer Council has previously come with strong criticism of banks not to let Norges Bank rate cuts benefit customers already when change came on December 11 last year.
