SAS lost over 800 million in the first quarter – Aftenposten

revenue reached 8.37 billion Swedish kroner in SAS accounting first quarter, which runs from November to January.

This is an improvement from 7.87 billion in the same period last year.

Meanwhile falling profit before tax of -146 000 000 in Q1 2014 to -836 000 000 in Q1 2015.

In the resulting from the company CEO Rickard Gustafsson that the first quarter is seasonally the weakest for SAS.

– We see continued good passenger growth, a stronger load factor and moreover we have several photos of SAS Plus, which has led to a positive development for unit revenues during the quarter, says Gustafsson.

However, he adds that unit costs also increased when SAS reduced capacity in line with demand.

Both SAS and Norwegian presented passenger numbers for February Thursday morning.

A total of 1.6 million passengers flew with Norwegian in February, an increase of 7 percent from the same month last year. SAS experienced growth in passenger numbers.

Traffic growth is due to a stronger focus on the European market and good growth in long-distance traffic, said English. In March figures will however be lower because of a pilot strike which is now underway.

– It is a very regrettable situation. Although traffic is fairly normal on long distance and from our bases outside Scandinavia, the strike will still affect the entire company, says CEO Bjorn Kjos.

English planes had a load factor of 84.8 percent in February, up 5.5 percentage points from the same month last year.

SAS had 1.9 million passengers in February, up 2.2 percent. In them lay filling of 68.1 percent, up 1.2 percentage points from last year.
