Offshore companies are merging – Aftenposten

The message comes after a failed attempt to refinance Rem Offshore last week. The refinancing was blocked by Aker and Kjell Inge Røkke, who is also co-owner Solstad, reports newspaper Dagens Næringsliv.

The new company will have a combined fleet of 62 ships and headquarters will be located in Skudeneshavn Karmøy where Solstad Offshore now based.

the fleet of construction vessels will be operated from Karmøy in the future, while the fleet of platform supply vessels will have its operational base in Fosnavåg where Rem Offshore is headquartered today.

REM Director Åge Remøy believes the merger secures employment for the company’s 500 employees, writes Sunnmørsposten.
