Østerud mean seniors have to accept that a job change often means lower wages.

– Maybe we need to think again. No one is guaranteed to retain their wages. This is heavy realizations. Maybe it becomes less skummmelt whose job performance is not linked to what we earn. We see that the main motivation for staying in work is not high income, but the work environment.

Østerud notes that seniors in practice have three choices at the end of his career:

1. Liquidation: When you see retirement is around the next corner, hugging one gets stuck and does not engage in any form of human resource development.

2. Surfer in: The expertise sitting on is in demand, at least for a period, and the employee trying to surf in the recent past.

3. Development: Employee intend to work long and has a plan to maintain and develop skills. Meanwhile, they have a readiness to change jobs.
