Newly appointed CEO of Telenor, Mr. Brekke, gets a base salary of 5.9 million.
Chairman Svein Aaser says to DN that if he were offered “market price” for the foreign star candidates that were considered he would have offered far higher managerial salary.
– Then it would probably have been talk about three times as much. Around 15 million I would think, says Aaser said.
The salary scared not foreigners
As chairman Aaser presented the principles of incentive for the owners of Telenor’s general meeting on Thursday showed he added that Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas had a base salary of 5.5 million in 2014.
With bonuses and other benefits received Baksaas, however, a total compensation of nearly 12 million last year.
Aaser tells according to DN, however, that the low Norwegian executive pay still not scared foreign “stars” from a desire for Telenor job.

Brekke can earn 11 million a year
