Only holiday sales are hooded – Aftenposten

The country’s largest tour operator, Winger, reports a sales increase of over 30 percent compared to this period last year. Sales increase significantly also among travel agencies:

– We see clearly that the sale of package holidays for summer months picked up in May, and is pretty sure it’s the chilly spring weather that affects people’s choices. We here in the north are quite hungry for sun and warmth now. Not so nice with autumn mood in May, said marketing and administration manager Ellen Wollf Andresen in the country’s second largest travel agency chain for private travel, Ticket Holiday Travel, told Aftenposten.

Large demand in stores and online

Ticket selling all types of holiday travel, both charter companies’ package tours and individual travel, and the tendency is the same:

The sales this year breaks with a year-long trend that has been going on that people are waiting for the longest time to buy a ticket to Southern Europe, in order to review those domestic weather conditions first. This year the pressure from the market stronger than before, and sales increase comes earlier than normal in recent years:

– This year many waited until March and April of booking, and the cold spring has given further momentum. The shops are reporting high demand, as we see today. Several charter operators also report good sales day, says Andresen.

Doubling of individual airports

Both of package tour companies and airlines also report the same trend will pluck to travel foot in more than last year. At the country’s largest tour operator, Wing, expected that the notified, cool weather in many parts of the country this weekend is going to get many to pack away summer clothes again. It will also further boost in sales:

– Only the last week’s sales up 34 percent compared with last year. Those who want big houses, or special apartments or hotel, is still early, says Marketing Director Tonje Fossum Loka in Winger.

The company has experienced that the number of flights from some airports have nearly doubled compared to the same time last year, including Stavanger.

Tags bad weather immediately

At Star Tour is the increase of 15 percent, and CIO Mathias Bergendahl says that the increase in sales in May is not just a Norwegian phenomenon.

– We see the same thing all over Scandinavia. Sweden and Denmark have had the same labre spring weather. When the heat has not come forward in May, many will solsikre holiday with a Beach tour, said Bergendahl.

At the airlines can almost follow predictable weather information from ticket sales. Periods of poor forsommervær here at home sets immediately increased the demand for tickets to the resorts of the south of Europe. Both Norwegian and SAS can report good sales in the cool maimåneden:

– The sale runs consistently good day, also to the south-typical destinations. This may indicate that Norwegians are tired of the unstable and cold spring weather we’ve had, believe information manager Lasse Sandakerveien-Nielsen in English.
