Here are the tips that led to the discovery of new, serious regulatory violations Goliath … – TU

Thursday it became known that (PSA) made an additional supervision on the controversial and problem pursued Goliat.

The result was disheartening: For the fourth time in a logistics supervision had PSA ascertain that Goliat operator Eni Norway had not things changing. It was revealed serious breaches of the rules, and there was talk about the same violations now, as the three former supervisors.

The first time regulatory breaches were identified were already in 2012, while the platform was still in south Korea.

Refused to use crane

the audit that was conducted was in logistics that deals with material handling, lifting equipment, lifting equipment and safe operation of this type of equipment.

there were two reasons why PSA chose to visit Goliath once: Firstly had not Eni submitted enough information to the Norwegian regulatory authorities. Secondly PSA had received several reports of concern, including from trade union Industri Energi.

TU have accessed concern messages sent from Industri Energi.

– I have never before had to refuse to use a crane because key security is inoperative. This often happens on Goliath, a crane operator quoted on the expression of concern from the union to the PSA.

This is concerns

It listed a number of points where workers have expressed fears and concern. Among other things, include the matters relating to the union believes is unlawful hiring.

Here are a handful of concerns from union:

  • Fear of being replaced if hired come with wishes / requirements that they would demanded by a direct employment
  •

  • Outstanding maintenance, repair and completion of cranes being abandoned.

  •
  • Crane Personnel feels like “Black Peter” when they need to stop or suspend work.

  •
  • Do not sufficiently dedicated deck personnel. Many new and frequent replacements
  •

  • No real experience of worker participation in their own work
  •

  • Enrolled events (synergies) of a serious nature are not adequately treated and handled
  •

– We are concerned that these conditions are also manifested in other disciplines than cranes and lifting, the report says the PSA.

Eni: must handle it properly

PSA told yesterday to TU that they were not satisfied that the same rules violations became known again and again. They were not pleased that Eni in spite of repeated reminders, had not responded PSA.

– We like that bad. There is severe. Any discrepancies must be corrected, and we expect that companies make. It should not be necessary to provide companies with a notification of order to correct regulatory discrepancies, said spokeswoman Eileen Brundtland at PSA.

Eni Norge’s spokesman Andreas Wulff said to TU that they will embellish this in the media before they have submitted their responses to PSA.

When asked directly concern reports and allegations that the crane operator has been forced to refuse to use cranes because security is not working, says Wulff that it is regrettable.

– it’s hard to go into that kind of concern. They sent to the PSA, and we relate to it and take it into consideration. But it is regrettable that the kind of situations have arisen and that we must handle properly, he said.
