Netflix originally started as an online DVD rental service just before the millennium, but a few years later they began to deliver movies and TV shows directly over the broadband line. Especially in recent years, this approach has made the company a well known actor in the world and this country.
Are we to believe Netflix whatsoever though, Reed Hastings, leaving the company for the first time in more money on subscriptions than its main competitor, their HBO.
Have passed HBO
It was through his Facebook profile Hastings could tell that Netflix now retrieves all 1,146 billion dollars in revenue from its flow subscriptions. This five million dollars more than HBO reportedly receives from its customers.
According to Netflix’s recent quarterly report, which was submitted in July, they now have over 50 million customers worldwide.
Hastings admits that the competitor still earn more money than them, a fact he probably just have to reconcile with yet. Over 130 million subscribers also pay to get served HBO’s famous series such as Game of Thrones and True Blood – so the company has also significantly many more customers than Netflix whole.
The fact that HBO is still one distance ahead in these areas still seems not to scare Hastings. He announced the same Facebook status that he is honored to compete with such a strong player, which, furthermore, has won several prestigious awards than his own company.
Netflix is still on the offensive . Self-produced series, as “Orange is the New Black ‘ Emmy-winning” House of Cards “will just be the beginning.
Missing tailwind for HBO Nordic
Although HBO is still the greatest, we will no longer back than a week to find the reason why the company should worry about. When it was in fact known that HBO Nordic, which supplies HBO’s flow series of the Nordic countries in the license, have not yet gained a good momentum in the Nordic market.
While Netflix currently has a subscription base of 390,000 in Norway, HBO can not even measure up to these numbers if they add up the numbers for any country. Only 380,000 of us Northerners have in fact chosen to pony up for their service, now eighteen months after launch.
Netflix allows pirates determining the contents:
