Now, the convenience store be another – Amtstidende

Now, the convenience store be another – Amtstidende

This week it became clear that Coop buys shares in ICA Norway for 2.5 billion and take over 553 Norwegian grocery stores. Competition Authority now has 130 days to consider the acquisition.

Cautious

If the acquisition is accepted, the Coop have gained a market share of almost 30 percent.

Both Matkroken Drøbak center and supermarket at Dyrløkke in Frogn is formerly owned by ICA Norway, and may be affected. In addition, there is a Coop Prix at Bjørnemyr and supermarket on the rod. Currently, Coop careful to imply anything.

– In some local markets, it may be that the current ICA and Coop stores together to get a large market share. In these local markets, the Competition Authority will expect us to do so-called corrective measures, says CEO Svein Fanebust Coop Norway to Amta.

Selling

Fanebust says that the Competition Authority’s decision may cause the Coop must sell one or more individual shops.

– If this is the outcome we will achieve the best possible solution for the employees in the affected stores, says Fanebust.

How many and which stores this applies, Coop can not answer.
