Save 534 dollars on buying the shoes from abroad – Aftenposten

Save 534 dollars on buying the shoes from abroad – Aftenposten

In his proposal to the government budget increases government tax limit for shopping online with 300 million, from the current level of 200 to 500.

Sneakers example shows how Norwegian consumers can send more money abroad with the new tax-free threshold:

  • In sports giant XXL cost model Nike Free 3.0 999 million.
  • Across the pond , at the online store Wiggle in England, the price is 465 million including shipping.
  • Save ie well over 500 million on clicking shoes home instead of going to the store.

– An accident at work

The change may have consequences for Norwegian jobs, already under pressure from a high cost. This will also lower wages and production costs a carrot for outsourcing.

Just last year, two out of five purchases made by foreign online stores. This means that eight of 35 billion of Norwegians total ecommerce went to foreign online stores last year.

Working in complete uproar over the increase.

– Competitive Advantage foreign online stores already have will increase dramatically with this proposal. It all appears to be an accident, says Harald Andersen, political director of Real Bergens Tidende.

He said that Norwegians shopping online with current limit already cost 6,000 jobs and 2.3 billion in lost tax and tax revenues.

– With the exception of the grocery industry will affect all Norwegian retail industry hard. It can lead to closures and thousands of jobs lost, says Andersen.

Online Stores in Norway are those who primarily want to feel the effects of the increased limit, says trend analyst Brett Okland.

– They will face competition to a much greater extent, Amazon and other major online retailers. But hairdressers selling hair products, electronics industry and sports industry, in fact, most will notice this. It’s that simple, he says.

Christine Meyer, Director of the Competition Authority, has previously spoken out in favor of a raising of the VAT threshold for online shopping. She sits Wednesday in meetings and not available for comment.

745 more pairs of shoes

The increased tax-free threshold means you can do more than can double the value of the basket of network abroad.

The 500 limit includes shipping costs, means somewhat lower purchasing power, but it has a number of foreign online stores already taken into account. The key is free shipping, which allows for optimization of the tax-free threshold:

  • 500 disposable you can now choose from 50 percent more makeup products and almost twice as many bags and wallets in online giant ASOS in England.
  • The increase means that you alone can choose from 745 several pairs of shoes, ranging from famous brands such as Adidas to Birkenstock.

– This is a transfer of surplus from Norwegian e-commerce companies to foreign firms, says BT commentator Sigvald Sveinbjørnsson.

– The government talks a lot about strengthening industrial competitiveness, but this proposal will however weaken the retail industry in general and online sales especially, he adds.

Mister important labor

Training Clothing and cosmetics are typical products that are often significantly cheaper in foreign online stores. At the same time, consumers will increasingly be able to coup merchandise throughout the year.

Actual estimates saying that 10,000 jobs could disappear as a result of competition from foreign online stores.

– For young people under 24 years of work 30 percent of this industry. This is the main entrance to the labor market for young people, says Andersen from active to BT.
