After two years of delays and many challenges began production at the Goliat field Saturday. The daily production is expected to reach 100,000 barrels of oil and other petroleum products per day.
Most recently in February confirmed the Italian oil company Eni that they had to postpone the original production beginning March 1. In recent months, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) granted Eni many order following audit of Goliat. The company has also been criticized for not following up orders they have received from the audit. While PSA has noted the lack of Goliath, gave the audit platform clear signal for startup.
The platform, which is built in South Korea, was 50 percent more expensive than planned.
